This year, Oceans 5 is offering 15 free PADI Divemaster Internships exclusively for Indonesian citizens, creating a life-changing opportunity for young Indonesians who dream of becoming professional divers.
Now, the first group of five interns—Ziki, Yani, Tegar, Adrian, and Zain—is about to complete their journey. In just three months, these five passionate individuals transformed from rescue divers into confident, competent PADI Divemasters, fully equipped to begin a new professional chapter anywhere in the world.
A Life-Changing Opportunity for Indonesian Divers
The Oceans 5 Divemaster Internship Program is designed to open doors for Indonesians who want to enter the dive industry but may not have the financial means to do so. It’s a rare chance to gain international certification, real-life experience, and professional mentorship—free of charge.

Requirements:
Must be an Indonesian Citizen
Minimum age: 18 years old
Must hold a PADI Rescue Diver certification
What’s not included:
PADI Divemaster eLearning materials
PADI Divemaster registration fee
Accommodation
Everything else—training, equipment use, guidance, mentorship, and real-world experience—is covered by Oceans 5 Gili Air.
No Strings Attached – Your Future, Your Choice
One of the most important aspects of this internship is that it does not come with strings attached. Unlike some dive centers that require graduates to stay on and work in exchange for training, Oceans 5 believes in freedom and empowerment.
After completing the internship, the new divemasters are free to work anywhere in the world.
Some may choose to stay on Gili Air and work as local dive guides or instructors in the future, but many will find opportunities in Bali, Komodo, Raja Ampat, or even abroad. Oceans 5 simply wants to give its interns the foundation to succeed—and then let them choose their own paths.

Oceans 5’s local dive team, including instructors and divemasters like Atek, Dedi, Tim Tam, Sury, Iwan, and Ziki, serve as mentors and role models. Many of these professionals began their own careers in similar programs and now proudly give back by training the next generation.
From Student to Professional in 3 Months
The transformation from a rescue diver to a certified PADI Divemaster at Oceans 5 Gili Air typically takes 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the intern’s schedule and learning pace.
During this time, interns will:
Assist on Discover Scuba Diving, Open Water, Advanced, and even Rescue courses
Join beach and reef cleanups to learn about environmental responsibility
Develop mapping and briefing skills
Learn dive site management and logistics
Practice underwater navigation
Master the 24 PADI Divemaster skills to demonstration level
Learn how to guide certified divers safely and responsibly
